LCD Software:
- Linux: LCDproc - free. [LCDproc v0.4.5 has a number of minor bugs; see FAQ. ]
- Linux: LCD4Linux - free.
- Unix: CAJUN Car Audio Jukebox - free.
- Windows: LCD smartie - free v5.2 is buggy; v5.1 seems ok. [5.3 alphas are great!].
- Windows: Matrix Orbital's own test program - free but only useful for testing
- Windows: LCDC - shareware but it's very good.
- Windows: LCD Studio. Think this is freeware - difficult to tell from the website. Need to apply a patch to get it running. Interesting drag and drop interface.
- Unix: MtxOrbd - open-source.
- Unix: LCD::MatrixOrbital - open-source. Perl Module.
Palm Software that may be useful with PalmOrb:
- BackLight (freeware): inverts the screen when the backlight is on - useful for older models.
- AutoExec (freeware): After a soft reset it will automatically run an app.
- JackFlash (commercial): Stores your data/apps on Flash memory so even a hard reset or power failure won't remove them! Has to be used with JackSafe (comes with JackFlash) to have apps available without a hotsync. Sadly it can't save application perferences - so you still have to configure any apps after a power failure; which is a shame because otherwise (together with AutoExec) you could have the palm booting up with your computer...
- Serial Fix (shareware): "Serial Port system extension to correct baud rate and flow control problems on Tungsten/T and Tungsten/T3".
Palm Software that I use:
- Converter (free): This free conversion tool for the palm supports 215 different unit types in 23 categories. You can convert everything from miles into kilometers to pounds into stones and many, many more. You can even configure the types you use most so that they are easier to access.
